The TRUE Story of the Occultist

In most of my horror games, there is a disclaimer that says "Based on a true story." Some say "loosely," but most are very close. In Julia, the names actually HAVEN'T been changed, and Julia and Henry didn't have a happy ending in real life. The Thirty First is based on my first investigation into a child-kidnapping cult at the age of 16, but some of the conditions and locations are different, and it takes place once my career has already been established. Bridge Under Troubled Water is a conflation of two stories, and the public murders that take place during the investigation are fabricated. Old Growth is almost entirely true, except I didn't meat Paul Stamets. Town on the Edge of Darkness was my first game, and is therefore entirely fictionalized, but with aspects of various stories mixed in.

This book is the true story of the things that transpired leading to the creation of the secret organization known as ESPER: Extraordinary Supernatural Phenomena Explored and Revealed.

The names have all been changed (with the exception of some that were *barely* changed). The one major exception in the story is that Julie/Julia didn't kill herself in real life, she just got too depressed and had to drop out.

...apart from that, it's all real. EVERYTHING is real, and this story also explains this, in depth.

THIS IS A WARNING.

"He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster. And if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you."
